1997 850—Dipstick Snapped in Reservoir
Mechanically Inclined:
I was changing oil in a 1997 Volvo 850 today, and just as I was finishing up the job, the dipstick snapped in the reservoir. It's pretty far down the tube, about an inch and a half or two. I didn't want to mess with it in fear that I would make it worse.
I really need help with this. I do not want that dipstick to be stuck forever. Does anyone have any tips on how I can get this out? I've seen forums that suggest glue and a stick or sucking the dipstick out. But these do not seem plausible to me. Can I take it out by dropping the pan? Can I remove the dipstick reservoir?
Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi Arthur and welcome to the site.
I'm not sure what you mean by reservoir??? If you mean dip stick tube, you can pull the tube by pulling 1 bolt under the intake manifold then pulling the entire tube out. The bolt is a 12 mm and can be reached from up top. Some go at it from below but I think it's harder from there.

I second that or if you have a very small pair needle nose pliers that might fit into the tube should work to.
