Default 1997 850 GLT cranks but will not start -white puff of smoke

I have a 1997 850 GLT Wagon. During the past few weeks I have noticed that the car would not start in temps below 30 degrees. I would pull the fuel pump relay and warm it up and it would start. This past week I purchased a new fuel pump relay and installed it. The car ran great for a few days. The next project is replacing the PCV system. There is a stream of white smoke coming out do the dipstick and oil spits out the oil cap.

Today while driving after allowing the car to warm up for 10 minutes I stalled about a mile from home. It stalked while at a light, just before stalling the car began to idle rough and buck before sputtering out. I tried to start the car, the car turned over and over but would not catch. After a minute the engine combustion popped and a puff of white smoke arose from the passenger front engine compartment and the oil cap became lose. The metal tabs were bent out of shape. I had the car towed back to the house. I checked all the fluids and levels were perfect no leaks. I can hear the fuel pump and can get gas from the injector bar although it is not streaming.

I checked the MAF which seems to be operational.

I tried it start the car again about 4 hour later it turned over and caught for a second and stalled. I then tried it start it again and got the same clouds of smoke and oil cap was lose again.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

This is probably useless, but it's a free suggestion. Look at the distributor internals for signs of oil/fire/blown rear cam seal. I have a car that blew out the back intake came seal, oil got in the distributor, and naturally the distributor set it on fire. It would not run eventually because of the rotor button was incinerated (which is a very cheap item). When it wouldn't run, it did backfire occasionally. If that isn't your problem, then you aren't out anything by looking.
