Man, I hate to say it but I've seen 850's with over 500,000 on them 6 years ago.

You need to find that oil usage/leak problem. Where is it going?
The cyclist rode away...even after bouncing off my hood. As for the leaks/ loss...there are no external oil/ anti-freeze leaks. My engine is spotless. Where it is going is a mystery. And even if I knew, do I really want to invest $$$ in the car at this stage?

Man.... It is really great to hear the stories of 850's that have over 200K on them. Please, keep them coming. It will show folks who are on the fence to keep driving them!

Hello, mine reached over 217,500 miles (350,000 km) just last Friday. 1993 GLT model 854, no A/T and engine replacement. Now, big problem is body paint (top clear) fading, color changing to white from #412 blue-green (>_<).
May be it's rare case in JPN. I love "classic".

You need to do a little research. You can likely use something like rubbing compound and polishing compound and then apply a new layer of clear coat to keep it looking young.

Best to use a powered buffer to rub and polish it out. That or if moneys an issue you can contact a votech in your area that has an auto body program and see if they will take you vehicle to do a paint job on it. The labor is free and you only pay for the materials.

If the clear coat is fogging up it can be helped a little with high quality waxes but it's really over and will need to be repainted.

Thanks for advice, but it's necessary re-paint. I tried coating with state-of chemicals, but didn't work. I have to remove deteriorated top (clear) coat to eliminate fog on roof !

Yeah man- 95 850 wagon with 207k on the clock. Only have a 6 mile commute and 2 additional fun vehicles for the nice weather, so it takes me a while to put the miles on. D

If you have the '96 you get it fixed ASAP. You may be able to plug it into a '95 car and read the mileage.

The odo stopped working at 198K about 22 months ago. Plenty of driving (and repairs) since then, too. One day I promise I'm going to build the ODBII breakout box to see if I can read the actual milage.

Still going strong at 242k miles on my '97. Pretty much the usual stuff to fix but now the higher costing items are wearing out ie. fuel pump, turbo oil lines, intake hoses etc. Planning on trying to get to showroom condition (well gently used) with detailing the interior and exterior paint soon. Even thinking about getting some new Volans for it. Looking forward to my new project car...

Humm... this post is like 10 years old...

I retired my '95 850T at about 255K. Daughter's daily driver until she inherited a free 2008 Mazda 3 that had 70K miles on it. Wish I had a barn or a bigger garage.

I also loaded "my" 855R to my daughter for about four years or so and she used it as a daily driver. Told her to take care of it and if she ever wanted to get a another car that she had to give it back to me. I got it back not too long ago and am in the process of renewing it and take it out of daily driving. However, my wife likes this car and still want to drive it. Will see...

1996 855R, has 225k and going strong! Used as a race car and left to sit for 2 years and then I bought it, with 200k. Daily driven 50 miles a day minimum, normally 50-100 miles. She does great, aside from the oil consumption…
