Default 850 Cabin just doesn't get very warm

95 850 NA, put a heater core in back in September, and a 190 degree thermostat back in December, relatively cold morning today (10 degrees) gave it about a 15 minute warm up before I drove it my 6 mile commute. Just doesnt get real warm inside.

The heater core was from FCP but I assume it was aftermarket and had to add extra foamy stuff because the coils were a bit different than the one that came out, but everything hooked up OK and I don't smell maple syrup anymore. Air recirc lever is broken but the spring keeps the door closed I think, so I dont think I'm pulling in extra (cold) outside air to dilute my heat.

Temp guage doesnt get to 3:00, I didnt replace the temp sensor, Gonna try another place with an OBDII tester, see if they can tell me what the computer thinks the warmed up temp is.

I enjoy the car but would enjoy it a lot more if I could get some real HEAT out of her! Any ideas? Thanks, Dave

The heater core has a simple flow path, you can check it just by testing the temperature of the two lines that go through the firewall above the throttle pedal. Easy test for piece of mind.

The Air recirc wont really affect the flow of air in the vehicle but of course the air would be warmer if it was pulling from inside the car.

Do you have an ECC system or manual? Are you letting the air only blow out at your feet or are you letting it blow out in your face?

Test the pipe temperatures, if they are the same and warm then the core has flow. If thats the case then there is flap/vent problem.

Default heat

Box- It has the manual heat system, and I do get heat, drove it at lunch (28 degrees out) and it did keep me warm. I use the floor / mid / dash vents. I would just like heat at 0-10 degrees!

How would I test the lines, seems like I could check that under the hood up against the firewall rather than pulling back my carpet, panels etc. Would I strap a thermometer on there to check it? Guess I want to compare the temp of each lines right?

As far as the non 3:00 guage, the guy at Advance Auto today said a bad sensor anywhere in the system would throw a fault code and I dont have any lights on or any fault codes. Which I'm certainly not complaining about And I'd rather not start throwing parts at her
