Default 850 leg room (lack of)?

My wife has a 96 850 and I have a 05 S60. She is on the verge of exercising imminent domain over my S60, and I'll wind up with the 850. Which is cool I don't drive that far to work. Problem is there is no leg room in the 850. With the seat all the way back it measures 20" from the front of the seat to the center fo the brake pedal. Is there an "alternative" mounting positon for seats? I looked under the seat where the rails are mounted and don't see anything. The PO was a wee little fellow and he probably needed help...but I'm 6'2" and need the room. Can someone tell me if this (20") is all there is?

Thanks,

Jim

Damn are you 7' or something? I'm 6'4" and I got my seat set up nicely. Try messing with the tilt. It should feel like you're in a fighter jet cockpit. At least that's what it's like for me

Wow, that's really strange!!

We test drove a S60 before and decided against it; one of the major reasons was absolutely NO rear leg room!!

Yeah there should be plenty of leg room in the 850 for you.

Correct, front leg room. My S60 has plenty, my 850 has little. Can someone check the 20" measurement from the front of the seat cushion to the brake pedal please? Is there an alternative mounting position for the seat rails?

I almost wonder if your seat is not going all the way back for some reason. I'm also 6'2 and i have NO problem with legroom.

Maybe a measurement should be made from the front of the seat (moved all the way back) to the firewall.

That was my logic measuring from the front of the seat bottom to the brake pedal...that or firewall either one would at least give me a reference point.

Maybe it isn't going all the way back...again, a reference measurement would help.

Sorry; i mis-read your initial post...

I get 21" from the center of the brake pedal to front of seat with slider all the way back. Adjusting the tilt from there gives +/- about 0.5" delta or so from that measurement.

You might be able to notch the mounting holes a bit but that would not give you much more. Other than you're going to have fab something custom; seat mounts are safety related so can't half-*** it...

I like to sit with my seat pretty far back but I'm only 5'-4". LOL, I thought you were never going to get a measurement from anyone.

I also have not seen any alternate mounting options for the seat. Maybe you can remove the front seat and drive from the back seat. LOL. Or maybe get rid of the thing & replace it with a 960 but I don't like how high the 960's ride.

If I see anything different later I'll post back.

I think my only option is to remove the seat and completely think through an alternative mounting scenario. Or, just pretend it is comfortable.
