Default 850 Rear brake caliper

Hi all,
I am new here and to vehicle maintenance and repair. I have been quoted $750. for replacement of right rear brake caliper. Since the part is under $100 I am going to try and do the work myself with your assistance please. So, the shop paperwork says "RR caliper draging inner pad 5 Outer 2. Inner L 5/5" not sure what all that means but mechanic says the caliper is not working the same on both inner/outer compression???

So question is:
1) Is there anything else I should be looking for?

2) How do I remove the rear passenger side brake caliper and what do I need to do when replacing it? Please provide step by step instructions and/or illustrations as I've NEVER done ANY work like this on a vehicle before.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide!

Hi and welcome to the site.

Here is a video. If you need more help than this, let us know and we will help you more.

How long have you owned the car? Glad to read that you are willing to dig in and work on it yourself.

Robert thank you for the support and the informative video. I have had this beauty for about 5 years. I have not done any work myself on her but times being what they are I am jumping in to do my own work!
The video you showed is to replace the brake pads. Do you have anything that shows how to replace the caliper? Also, I have been reading different forums and see that I will need to bleed the brakes. Do you have any videos for that process as well?

I believe the video shows what 2 bolts you will need to remove to pull the entire brake caliper. Two bolts and 1 brake line. After you install the caliper, you bleed the brake with the bleeder, I'm pretty sure the video explains that.

Here is a brake caliper thread:

Vikiius: do you have a Haynes manual or Chilton manual for the car? if you don't, I'd suggest getting one. They're not the best in the world, but they're reasonably priced and can get you over the hump when you cant get an immediate answer here.

Also, You should be fine in replacing the caliper - it's not really that difficult a job. I would go ahead and bleed the fluid completely on the car as it should be changed out every 2 years or so anyway.

I like this better than a Chiltons, and it's free:

Good luck!
