Default Brake Caliper repair - Parking brake malfunction

Hey everyone. I am new to the Forum as a poster, but have read the Forum for years and it has helped me alot. So I am finally logging on to get some advice, and I will be happy to respond to some posts that concern repairs that I have done so that I can contribute to this excellent resource. I have a rear brake caliper repair question. I have a 2000 S-40. The rear drivers side brake works, but the caliper needs repair. I say this because the caliper will not hold the parking brake when it is applied. I pull the brake handle inside the car to activate the parking brake, but the brake does not hold. When I pull the handle very hard, the parking brake does hold, but the portion of the caliper that handles the parking brake (located on the inside half of the caliper where the parking brake cable comes to meet it) freezes in place and I need to use a little leverage to free it up in the back. The parking brake calbles are fine (I have checked them), and I am certain it is the caliper. I have seen some repair instructions to rebuild the caliper if the seals are going and it is leaking or if the normal braking is problematic, but I do not have these problems. I want to know if the portion of the brake caliper that houses the parking brake mechanism can be repaired, and how. Anyone else have this problem? Much obliged for your responses.

Im not sure of you can rebuild the S40 ones. It might just be easier to replace the caliper.
