Default 850 T5R

Remember that i posted a while ago about the 850 T5R that i was thinking about buying, well i saw the pictures of it today, the car on the inside is well taken care of, but its a 1995 model, and they told the lady that they(volvo dealership) offer 4k for the car and she refused, because she says its a classic and blah blah, the car on the outside is....ok.....it could be better but it isnt, and if its for sale for 4.5k then i would buy it, but she doesnt wanna sell it because its a "classic"

I have an idea. Get the VIN and the lady's phone number and "private message" the info over to JimKW. He has been a very helpful member of this board -- He helped me find the white/tan 850-R that my girlfriend bought -- and he would absolutely LOVE to own a clean yellow 1995 T5R.

He would buy the car for $4.5K USD without blinking an eye.

With VIN, he would know whether car is Euro, Canadian, US spec, or other. If by chance, it is US spec, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he decided to pay major $$ to have it shipped into the states.

I'll be quiet now and let Jim speak for himself.

Hey Robert careful there spending my money. I don't usually travel more than about 400 miles for a car.

Yellow T5R's are quite hard to find, but I'm not quite sure I would call it a "Clasic". If the lady does not want to sell it, there's not much you can do about it. You need to get her to give you a price and go from there. If the dealer is offering her $4,000, it's worth more than that. They really low ball people, and would probably try to sell it for $8,000 or more after they buy it. You have to offer her more than the dealer is offering her, but less than what the dealer would sell it for. Being in Panama make is tough since you really can not use the KBB pricing. I really use KBB Private Party price as the ball park number to buy a car.

Looks to be in good condition, but not great. The fact that it does not have the Titan wheels on it drops the value considerably. Those are the Columbia wheels that came standard on the 850 Turbo. I gave an extra $1,000 when I bought mine to get the Volan wheels with a set of decent tires. Titans are five spoke wheels that came on the 96 T5R and they are great looking wheels. Not sure if it's the pictures or what, but there appears to be some fading which is very common on the yellow paint and there are scratches that you can see on both the front and rear bumpers. I don't know the values in Panama, but $4,000 for that here in USA would be a really good deal. I would most definitely buy it for that assuming it runs great and has good maintenace records. Get a pre-purchase inspection before closing the deal though.

Keep us informed, and good luck.

Yeah, since we use the same currency it would be $4,000 US dollars, i think its a good price also, but i mean i prefer the S70 T5 because its 3 years younger, same HP and more round on the outside

If i buy it, and consider to keep that color, What do you recommend me doing?
1. Painting the side skirts which are faded?
2. The bumpers, and what else?

How many Yellow R's did they make? 500?

I take it from the pictures this is a YELLOW?

-----------------------------------------------------

If you change the color of the car all Volvo owners will hate you. I'm not joking. The yellow is one of the most prized Volvo's out there. It is rare for a reason. If you change the color you change the fact that it is rare.

DO NOT CHANGE THE COLOR. DON'T BUY IT IF YOUR GOING TO CHANGE THE COLOR. LET A REAL VOLVO ENTHUSIAST BUY IT WHO WILL ENJOY IT.

DON'T CHANGE THE COLOR.
