If you paint it I will never reply to you again or even read your posts!!!!!

There were less than 1,000 yellow T5R's brought into the USA. I don't know about Euro models. They only made them in black and yellow with the yellow ones are very rare and getting harder and harder to find. Yes paint what is faded, or maybe even have the whole car repainted the same color. This car may very well be worth some money some day, but not if you change the color.

If you are willing to spend $5,800 on a 98 S70 T5 why are you lowballing her on the T5R? I'm guessing the dealer is screwing her at $4,000. I would not hesitate to offer her a little more than $5,000. If you want the car, make her an offer she can't refuse. If there was one near me for less than $7,500 I would be all over it.

Hmm, because since the dealer told her that, and you an see 97 850 T5's being sold for 4,500 i think thats a good price for the R(5,000), Dont worry I WILL NOT REPAINT THE car a different color, and repainting a whole car here is like $1,800 and i dont know if its worth it.......what do you think?

And also my dad told me that that is an ugly car(the color) but i was like HELLLLL NO! ehhe but i will call the lady today

Here are the rest of the pics, as you can see the emblems are fading, they are like greyish color instead of silverly looking like, where can i get new ones? and whats the most i offer the lady for the car? 5k?

It might be just bad lighting. The emblems should be a chrome looking color.

Also they might be dirty too.

Again, none of us know the value in Panama, but I'm saying $5,000 because the dealer offered her $4,000 and, at least in the USA, they give as little as possible for a car. The emblems look ok to me. They have a black background on the yellow with chrome in the middle. I think if that car was in excellent condition in the US somebody would try to get more than $7500 for it, depending on the mileage. My gut feel is that $6,000 would not be bad, but again we don't know the mileage or the service history. I had one lined up and was ready to buy it until I had a pre-purchase inspection and found that it was in bad shape. Mainly paint and A/C with some other problems I didn't even listen to once the mechanic basically said don't buy it.

Your Dad is probably old like me, and most guys my age or even younger do not like yellow cars. I don't know why I like it so much. I think it's because it's so different for a Volvo and it's not a real loud yellow. It's a rather pale yellow, but I'm pretty sure it has a tendency to fade quite a bit. My son likes it as much as I do.

My dad is like 54 years old, and i think its because of that, before purchasing it, i will take it to the volvo dealership for a pre-purchase inspection, i want to know the mileage but i dont have the number yet. The only problem is that, my Volvo 940 is under my mom's name, so she is kinda refusing to transfer it to me, so if she doesnt transfer it i wont be able to get the T5R, but i will talk to my dad and tell him the 850 T5R is from 98' and that is at the same price as my car blah blah, and i will convince him, thats not the problem, but the lady is not 100% sure about selling it. Also if i buy it, i will be the ONLY ONE in panama with this car, that would be AWESOMEEEE. I will keep posting my progress

Jim, If and when i get the car, can you do a signature like yours for my car please?

The only yellow T5R in Panama. Hell that's worth 1000 bucks right there. By the way I'm older than your Dad.

That yellow 850 T5-R is a 1998 model? Don't get me wrong you may be right. However I thought that was a 1995 model only. At least in that color that is. I might be wrong, but whatever.

I think he's just telling his Dad it's a 98 so he goes along with him buying it. 95/98 what's the difference, they are both pretty old for cars these days. Especially when your paying 1,000's of dollares for them.

Then again these were close to $35,000 cars when brand new. That's what you really need to be telling your Dad. The cost of these cars when new. My 94 850 Turbo had a sticker of around $32K. The 95 T5R had to be around $35K then. My son's 98 V70 R was around $40K new, my 97 850 R was $39K and my daughter's 99 S80 T6 was around $42K. Then when you talk about getting one for under $8K it's sounds impressive as hell. It doesn't just sound impressive, it is impressive.

tupapison, can you get to San Antonio, TX? There is a red 97 850 R with only 39K on it for sale there. They are asking $7,995, but that is a starting price. If I post the link it makes this thread real wide. Anybody know how to change the name in a link so it still goes there, but is not so big? You can find it on AutoTrader.

I just looked at a map. Never been too good with geography I guess. I'm quite a bit closer to San Antonio than you are. I never realized how far south Panama is in Central America. You are really almost in South America. Looks like a lot of resort ares there. Do you speak Spanish or English, because your writing is quite good if English is a 2nd language to you? Just curious. I have had several Spanish speaking people work for me and they can pick up speaking English ok, but never mastered writing very well at all.

I think I'm going to call the guy in San Antonio about the red R. It only has 33K on it, that's hard to believe.

I knew it was hard to believe, I called them and it has 133,000 miles not 33,000 as the listing states. I was getting ready to drive 1200 miles to trade my car in!

Jsust called the lady, the car has 27k Miles!!!!! It has USA specs, one question when the TRACS light is on, what does that mean? that the device in on or off? and exactly what does TRACS do?

I just came back from test driving it, and its wonderful! The car has its flaws, like the car ceiling is falling, like completely, the scratches on the bumpers, the car has water spots all over the windows, 1 halogen is working, the wipers of the headlights are not working, but besides that, the car is in wonderful condition, and it runes wonderfully, ill upload pics

Here are the things i noticed:

The seats were in wonderful condition. Everything worked. Only 1 of the front halogens worked. Paint was fading, mainly in the trunk. The power antenna only went up a little, not all the way. When you shifted gears from R to P, you had to press the shiftlock overdrive(i think thats the name) button. The car had the original mats. The car came with those rims, no titans :'(. And.... I dont know what else, as you can see in the pics, those are the flaws

So how much should I offer? i told her that 6k, and she told me she will call me tomorrow first thing to let me know because her husband is the one that knows about cars, Did i do a good thing and offer her a good price, or did i offer 2 much or not enough?

<------HOT!!!

<---Bumper scratch(one of many)
<---Power seats thing broken(but power seat work)
<---The ceiling of the car(dont know if thats the word) is falling
<---The ceiling of the back seats was worst

Tracs removes power to a wheel if it starts slipping. You don't want the light to be on most of the time unless in bad weather. Does it go out when you flip the switch? I would not let that stop me from being interested.

Did you talk money with her? 27K is really low. Like hard to believe low. There is a way to test to see if the mileage is correct. Also run a carfax report, but I don't know if things are reported in Panama. I would still want a pre-purchase inspection too.
