Default 850 t5R 95

I have some questions..

First - My AC is not working (it blows air - just not cold) and its not a charge issue. What can this be, and is it expensive to fix?

Two - I need to replace my drivers side seatbelt and assembly. I broke a small plastic peice that makes the belt lock properly it when it got stuck trying to fix it on my own. Expensive?

Third - My car makes a loud clicking noise when I make hard left or right turns..any ideas?

Fourth - Brakes!!! I had my brakes done by a friend and we went to NAPA and just told them the make and model and they sold us brakes. Well the pretty much were not working after a year. I noticed that i had to press VERY hard on the brake pedal. I took it in and they said it was because I used organic brakes and quoted me $700!!!! Has anyone heard of this, and can anyone tell me the exact brakes I need that wont make this happen?

I ask about the expense by the way because I LOVE LOVE LOVE my car. I paid $5000 for her 4 years ago, and have put ~2500 into her since (this is above and beyond regular maintenance). I have around 2000 to put into her now for these repairs. I hope that is enough!

Is the compressor activating when the button for the AC is activated? How do you know it isn't a charge issue?

I'm sure it's expensive and probably a dealer only part

Organic brakes refer to the pad material, organic is fine for everyday applications. The levels above organic are Semi-metalic and Ceramic. Most users here will tell you to stick with OEM pads, and to be honest they work very well and aren't too expensive.

The pad material shouldn't make a difference and assuming you aren't working with a crackhead mechanic the 700 bucks is probably for a new brake booster or mastercyclinder which might be shot.

Volvos aren't cheap to keep, unless you know a good indie mechanic or do the work yourself. Welcome to the board and ask away.

Hello Heather,

I agree with the previous post. Check the level/charge of the R-134 refrigerant in the compressor for the AC issue. The brake response is pretty much right on as well. As for the clicking when turning, you might want to have a shop check out the CV joints as that is usually the issue that causes clicking. For the seat belt, you basically have two options, get a new one from the dealership, or try to find one on line or at a wrecking yard.

Good luck and feel free to ask for help fron the forum

its either the master cylinder is shoot or you might have air the the brake system. and also the junk yard is the best spot to find the seat belt. And I do agree with info2x! Volvo arent cheap to maintain! I have spent few thousands on my T5R on stock parts to get her running.

Hey now,

When it comes to brakes I would suggest OEM or after market versions there of as you can save off the dealer cost.

First - My AC is not working (it blows air - just not cold) and its not a charge issue. What can this be, and is it expensive to fix?

Any number of things from a poor coolant charge to a component failure and, yes [sm=smiley19.gif], it can be a very $$$$ repair.

Follow the other suggestions mentioned and you will be fine.

Keep in mind that this IS A VOLVO and they are not cheap to keep. but if you take care of it and keep it up you will be a happy person [sm=smiley4.gif].
