Default 93 Non turbo dies ocassionally

Car usually starts no problem, but sometimes after driving it just dies. After waiting 5-10 minutes, car will restart and run fine. Is it the fuel pump relay? Is it a dealer item only? Also would like to tune it up today, any recommendation of parts I should buy? Does it have points and a condenser, or is it electronic? Thanks

sounds like a bad ignition modual , when it gets hot a transistor gets hot and shuts down ,when it cools it turns on

Default Fuel pump relay.

Had EXACTLY the same problem on my 94 850 Sed non turbo. Got a new FP relay and so far so good. Does it stall just after getting gas by any chance? Mine did but not any more. Hole this helps. Dealer had one for $55, bough that one instead of on line for about $25.

Change FP relay and tuned it up. Still dies occasionally, doesnt seem to have to anything with getting gas. Tried to buy an aftermaket FP relay, but it was a little larger and had round electrical tabs, not the flat blade types. $60 from dealer.

Next logical choice is a new/used FP, but not cheap. That being said, it could be a host of things. just saw a used FP on ebay for a start bid of $100. You now need to check fuel pressure when it stalls for starters. Read you can hook up fuel pressure gauge at the fuel rail and route it into the car to see while driving. OR just try a different pump. Best I can do! Rickford.

Also herd a lot about the ignition switch going bad and causing a no run problem. Try giggling it to duplicate the stall...

+1 here on the fuel pressure, before you go buy a fuel pump test the rail pressure before and during the death.

Another question, when it dies does your Tach just drop suddenly? Meaning, have you lost spark? If it just goes down with the RPMs of the engine then your probably still firing and your looking at a fuel issue. If it suddenly drops to 0 then you probably lost your spark. Anyway, easy first test.
