93 non turbo stall randomly
At completely random times while i'm driving my car will simply die as though i turned the key off. it doesn't matter if i'm going slow or fast, hot or cold, uphill downhill... the list goes on. once i have come to a complete stop, and try starting the engine up right away it will just keep turning (i can hear it firing, but not enough to sustain itself). abut two minutes later it will start up and run like nothing is wrong. sometimes if the road is empty enought for me to not have to move to the shoulder, i can floor the accelerator and the engine will catch usually by the time it has downshifted to second gear. I have replaced the fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and ignition coil.the check engin light won't come on, so i can't run the error codes. any ideas what is making my engine do this?
Hey now Djamp1983,
Around the middle of the summer I experienced a similar issue. It got to the point where I knew that it was going to happen just by the way the car sounded and even flooring it wouldnt prevent it from happening. I seemed to luck out though and only stalled once in traffic. Other times I was on a side street and not going very fast. I also noticed from time to time that my speedometer would drop to zeroand a smack to the top of the cluster would sometimes bring it back. Most times Id have to stop and restart the car.
I never did figure it out and what ever was causing it has seemed to correct itself as it hasnt happened in some time.
Sorry I cant be of more help but fear not, youre in good hands here and more help is on the way.

Follow Tech’s advice first.
Usually, no-start or dying on the 850s are caused by one or more of the following:
- Faulty fuel pump relay, as suggested by Tech.
- Faulty fuel pump itself.
- Faulty CPS (Cam Position Sensor)
- Faulty MAF (Mass Air Flow sensor)
- Neglect, etc...
And sometimes one or more of these faulty sensors do not seem to trigger CEL.
Refer to the attached.
Let us know how it goes.

Since you have replaced the filter, plugs, and coil, I would check all the connections and look for a iffy wiring. If that turns up nothing, I would suspect the fuel pump relay, or the crankshaft position sensor
thanks for all of your help, i've driven myself crazy checking over all the wiring thinking i may have missed something. fuel pump is only about 18 months old and so is the relay, MAF isabout a month older than thoes, theyall seem tofunction properly. how would i be able to tell if my cam sensor is faulty or not. the car is down for a few days waiting for a new tie rod to show up, so i can wait untill then to look closer at this issue.
got a cam sensor from my uncle's salvage yard for free. i suppose i'll know in a month or so if it works.if it doesn't, i guess i'll have to bite the bullet and try a new one. thanks again for all of your help.
