Default '95 850 Driver seat recliner motor not working

Actually, I can hear the motor whirring when I try to adjust the driver seat backrest, but the seat does not move.

I wonder if it's a broken gear on the motor. Has anybody had experience with this. How difficult is it to fix?

Thanks

Stickies. Use them.

LOL. Very common Volvo problem what's why it's posted in the sticky. You can usually fix the problem in 30 minutes. Do not discharge the side airbags if you have them. SRS.

I'm not sure if the sticky you reference fixes his problem.

My seat back was jammed in the fully reclined position, because the turn counter gearing got out of synch. I had to get to the gear and turn it by hand to re-zero it. Although supposedly the dealer can do it thru the computer control system without disassembling anything. There were instructions on doing it somewhere, maybe that should be another sticky?

So you fixed the problem?

Sticky's are really for common problems. Things that almost everyone has to deal with.

I decided not to tackle it. Took it to a local independent shop and they fixed it like new.

I read all of the Stickies and could not find a reference to this issue.
I also have the same issue of the motor not moving it. On mine the switch seems to start the motor but then it stops. I detect no movement.

Default 94 850 seat recline motor

So we have a 94 850 with power leather driver seat and the recline does not work. The motor works but it doesn't move. I know this is a common problem and I've seen all the repair instructions but before I dig into it I want to know if there are any internal differences for 94. In all the pictures and videos I've seen the lumbar adjust is on the right side of the seat and mine is on the left side of the seat near the door. I want to know if there is anything unique about the mechanicals in the seat for 94 before I dissasemble my seat.

The motor/cable configuration should be the same regardless of the lumbar adjustment which is manual.
