95 850 turbo wagon - revs high/flashing arrow/will not shift
Hi All...hoping someone can help!
My 95 Volvo 850 Turbo wagon broke down at 1:00 am last night!
We got the dredded flashing arrow, but decided to try to make it home. Was driving ok, but with sudden loss of power at time when you pressed on the gas (almost like it was in Winter Mode or L but it wasn't - checked both of those). Stopped at a stop light and the engine rev'd WAY up. Tried to go and no luck. Car still running, but would not go anywhere. Pulled over & tried the shift lock override & shifting thru the gears 15-20 times. Still nothing. It seems like Park & neutral are the only gears working. I have seen posts about the PNP switch - anyone think it could be that? Have never had an issue with rough shifting, etc until this point. Has 206K on the car. Oh yeah and when I went to add oil last week, the hood latch cable broke when I pulled the handle, so if you can tell me how I would get that open now, that would be great too. Thanks in advance!!

Being you have a 850 from 1995, you have the ability to check and see what codes are stored. You should check each port for codes and then post them up here so that we can tell you what is going on. Here is a "how to" on how to do this.
