95 855turbo dash lights dead
Folks, been searching here for my issue. Dash have been going off an on a few times with me, but now they are not coming on at all.
I think it is the ignition switch, as I have to turn the key back to shift out of park, get the daytime lights on, and seatbelt lights to come on.
Is there any tests I can perform? I pulled the headlight switch and opened it up to see if there was any trash, there was none.
I guess I need to order the ignition switch that is on the keyed part???

The dimmer switch is a common problem. That is the backlighting for at night correct?

Can I test the dimmer switch some how?
I know I need the electrical part on the ignition switch for sure.
Its hard to test them. Alot of times they will do just like yours then be dead all together.
Mine in my Yellow one did the same thing just after I bought it.
If you have a junk yard near you try getting one there.

I agree with the dimmer switch. I'm betting it is either a loose connection (rare) or a dead switch. You might want to check the fuse to make sure it is in tight, just to be sure.
Update: I have tried a different headlight switch and just installed a new ignition switch - electrical part... Now I get random lighting. If I pull the key out of the ignition quick and hear a good ding from sliding it out fast, and reinsert the key, the dash lights work in I, II, and then sometimes III. I swapped out the headlight switch to the old one and it seemed to do the same.
I lubed the key part with some WD-40 and that made the key slide in better, but still the same deal.
Could the electrical ignition part - 9447803 - be defective? It was brand new, in a sealed bag.
It seems like there is a contact problem between key section II and III. However, sometimes I would not get any dash lights when putting the key in.
Oh, are the dash lights supposed to work in parking mode, no key in???
Maybe a faulty dimmer switch, but it seems to do fine when dash lights are on. At least I do not have to turn the key back to get the car in gear....
Thanks for your help folks!!!

Tech, I guess that would naturally be the thing to do next.
This AM I tried to see if the dash lights would work and they did fine. I moved the slider on the dimmer switch back and forth several times and it was okay [dimmed the lights like it should...].
Does the dimmer switch cause erratic behavior like this?
Thanks....

FIXED!
Replaced dimmer switch.
QUEstion - When I put new switch in, my lights on the A/C on/off and recirculate on/off were blinking. They have done that one more time when I turned car off to position 2, and moved headlights switch to parking lights.
Any idea what this is? Normal???
Thanks for all the help.

The lights on the ac panel are a different issue. WHen they both blink it usually means there is a fault in the climate control system. You can do a quick search and learn how to pull the codes for the cliamte system. I don't know the procedure off the top of my head.
