Slight problem, my girlfriend has a 95 volve 850 2.4l, non turbo.. She was driving home from work, got to the house, turned the car off came inside for like 30 minutes, went to leave again and the car would not start... I check for spark, it has spark in the coil and from the distributor to all 5 cyl. So, checking fuel and everything it was all fine, couldnt figure it out, let it sit over night and it started right up this morning, any clue of why this could be happening? Could it be that this tiny crack in the distributor cap is affecting this, or the crank shaft position sensor? ANy advice, will help so much

Sounds like you tricked your girlfriend into spending the night to me.

If it's getting spark it's not the Cam or Crank position sensor. My first thought would be that the fuel pump or fuel pump relay, but you said it WAS getting fuel. Did it crank normal or was it a little slow cranking? Has it thrown any codes?

 

haha, well it wont start agian she says shes sitting at home.. but, she says it smelled really gassy... it cranks normal and everything just wont start... could the small crack in the distributor cap be causing this?

 

If it hasn't had a tune up for a while that's where I would start. New plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor couldn't hurt and it's fairly inexpensive. I would use OEM Turbo plugs. As a matter of fact I would use all OEM parts for a tune up. I have bought them from fcpgroten, the local dealer and volvoparts.com.

I think the first problem is that it is "Volve", not "Volvo".....

....just kidding[8D].

I would replace the cracked dist cap. Also see if any trouble codes have been thrown.
