Lightbulb 96 850 ABS Module

Can anyone tell me where the ABS/Traction module is located. My light came on and I saw on here that it is possible to clean it and maybe it would need resoldering job. Don't know if it is possible but willing to try to save money from Volvo. Any suggestion are welcome. Thanks!!!!

I just got mine back from the guy that JPN provided the link to. It looks great but haven't started the car up yet, so not sure I can fully endorse him yet. The price is good- but it took over two weeks, and I have not hooked up the battery cable since I removed. Either way you go you'll need an E5 tork socket and that is not easy to find. I got mine from IPD. Go ahead and order one because you can't do anything without it. The site JPN sent you has great info and instructions on removing.

For those who're stuck with '93-'95 modules:

That link is for the newer modules.
Hopefully soon I will be able to do one for the older ones. As I have to pull mine apart and fix it

I installed my rebuilt ABS module- that Victor Rocha did. Works just fine. It came wrapped up in one of those fancy bags like new computer harware comed in- you know the grey shiney anti-static stuff. I think it felt heavier (always good for a Volvo) but that may just because I hadn't held it in a while. Works great- no ABS light, system works- what else do you want for $140 dollars, plus an E5 socket and 10mins of time? I would reccomend his rebuilding service.

Agreed

It may have felt heavier, because the Vicrocha guy not only fixed the module but also upgrades them for more reliable performance. I can assume he may have installed heat sink or anti-vibration gadgets. You can call him to see if he added something that made the module heavier.

As to the screw question, if you cannot locate the same one at an auto parts shop, hardware shop or junkyard, you can bite the bullet and go to the dealer. They may charge $10 for the screw to screw you, but they may only charge $3 for it.

Good luck,

JPN
