Default ABS module 96 Volvo 850

Lite stays on except every so often it will cut off for a brief period. Have followed all the Threads on ABS module and checking soldered connections. I know my brake pads are good and have removed, cleaned and checked resistance OK, on the wheel sensors. I also gave ignition key jangling a try, all to no avail. Sounds like module removal and checking is only thing left to do. Am I right or are there other checks I shold make first? Help please

The only other thing I would check is the brake pedal switch. If that is in good shape, then the module is the only other thing to look at.

This is going to sound crazy I know..but it worked for me..mine was doing much the same thing, ABS light on dash came on, even sometimes Id hit the brake and it would act like I was on Ice or something.

I took the connector apart sprayed it with WD 40 put it back together and haven't had a problem since and thats been at least 4 mos ago now.

Just a thought...worked for me.

brake pedal position sensor can be intermittant if the solder is cracked. Have you pulled any codes?

Default Abs 96 v. 850

No codes pulled yet; however, When I start to drive, the ABS lite comes on and then goes out immediately. Is this normal? Does this after I cleaned all connections to the module. ie: Does this indicate module could still be acting up?

If you mean the ABS lite comes on when you start to roll in drive and then goes out once the car is moving, no, that is not normal.

The ABS lite (and a dozen or so others) should come while cranking the engine; this is the "bulb-check" time and then go out once the car starts (might take a second or two).

Pull the ABS codes; should give us a clue...
