96 850T - No longer runs - help please!
Ok, here are the facts:
- 96 850 GLT - 146k miles - up until a few days ago the car ran fine
- Loaned car to sister in law who ran the car out of gas (I believe) - added gas and car ran again to the gas station
- filled car up w/ premium and a fuel injector cleaner but car would not start and hasn't since
- starter does runbut car will not turn over
- this may or may not be related but the idle air control valve is humming and won't stop
What does everyone think and what do I need to do to get this thing running again?

I do not hear any activity from the fuel pump area w/ the key in the start position. I know this may be the fuel pump but would the fp go from working fine to dead w/o any symptoms?
The pump will not stay running all the time with the key on. When you turn the key on it only activates for a few seconds then kicks on when the car is cranked.
I was already going to replace the fuel filter this weekend. I am hoping this was the problem when running low on fuel. Does anyone konw of any easy diagnostic checks to determine if the relay or pump is bad?
Also, does anyone have any thoughts on the idle air control valve humming all of the time?

The idle motor will hum some. That is normal.
Check for power at the pump first. Or just remove the relay and open it and check for bad solder joints.

I've checked the relay and everything looks good. At the same time, my battery is dead and I'm sure it has to do w/ the "humming" idle air control. I dont' remember this thing running non-stop prior to this problem.
Who knows?

Ok, I haven't removed and reinstalled the ECM yet but I have replaced the fuel pump relay, fuel pump and filter and.......the damn thing still doesn't run nor is there any indication that it will run. I am at a loss. Any last ditch ideas before I remove the ECM/take this car to a shop?
OK - I pulled out the ECM and replaced - no change. I then took at multi-tester to see if I was getting any juice to the fuel pump - it does not appear that I have any power at the pump. I simply plugged the multi-tester into the red connector which connects to the fuel pump.
Any thoughts?

Under the hood in the fuse panel is a relay for the fuel pump. You will have to remove the 4 t-25 screws to get to the relay. The relay might be bad. You can remove the relay and inspect the solder joints.
Let me look in the morning and try to figure it out. Tried to pull up my wiring diagram and the computer is acting up and cannot open the diagram I will fix in the morning and post back.
Ok, finally had to take the car to my local shop. They checked it out and ended up replacing the fuel injector relay. This fixed all problems - $168 w/ relay.
