The oil light on the dash stays lit for an extra half-second after starting. I haven’t been driving my car on a regular basis lately (taking the train to work), so I thought it was related to the oil settling in the pan for more than 48 hours, but the other day I did some errands and stopped for about 90 minutes. When I started up the car, the light stayed on for the ½ second again. I checked the stick and the oil level looks good. I'm not too nervous about this, but I would like to take care of it sooner rather then later... Anyone have ideas what could be causing this?

 

when was the last time you changed your oil? Oil loses viscosity over time.

 

Hmm, oil change? I know I did it since the last presidential election . . .

She loses oil slowly, so I'm always topping it off and I don't recall this happening before. I'll have to check the date for a change and see what happens.
