I was about to ask if anyone had any ideas how long these transmissions could last. I believe that a well maintained motor with premium gas run in it would last 500,000 miles. Have no idea about the tranny. :{

These are great transmissions. Besides Volvos, slight variants are used on Toyotas as well, starting from late 80s to early 2000. 4Runners, Tundras, even Sequoias have them, along with a slew of Toyota cars. I used to have a Previa minivan 4WD (those with engines underneath the front seats, supercharged) with the same transmission as my Volvo V90. In Toyotas, any failure before 200k miles was an anomaly. Many Previas with over 300k miles had original transmissions.

Stock, they are rated for over 350 lb/ft of torque.

Bulletproof transmissions. If you change the fluid, you can't kill them.
