Default ABS light just came on

I changed the pads and rotors and the ABS light came on. I unplugged the red plug above the bearing on one wheel before I realized I didn't need to. Maybe I didn't get it plugged all the way back in. Is there anything else that might have caused the light to come on? The owners manual doesn't really say much other than there is a problem and I should go to the dealer.

Thanks,
Brandon Harder

I think it will toss a code if you unplug them with the batter connected. It may go out on it's own in a few days (after completing a few drive cycles).

What MY (model year) is your 850? If it has OBD1 jack under the hood you can read out the code(s) yourself.

It's a 97, ODii. The battery was disconected while I was working on it. The check engine light that was on went away and hasn't come back but the ABS light came on and hasn't gone away.

Yep, pretty sure you don't have an OBD1 port on '97; bummer. Most generic OBD2 scanners don't cover ABS on volvo, which means most likely need to take to a dealer to get it scanned/erased.

There is a chance if you didn't open the bleeder when you retracted the caliper pistons you might have pushed some crud from the piston up into the ABS unit ... I'd check that red connector first. You might want to flush it out a bit with some WD40 before you button it back up. One of the few things WD is good for. IMHO
