850 GLT: When I turn the key to the accessory position, the blower comes on and runs on high, regardless of the switch position; however, when I turn the car on, within 2-3 seconds, the blower quits. Is there a relay overloading somewhere?

I'm thinking resistor for this one.

 

A mechanice who was quick to point out he wasn't that familiar with Volvo's told me he thought it was the blower motor. But since the blower motor does run and does so smoothly, what you are saying about the resistor - is it a part of the blower motor or is it separate?

 

+1 sort of a common problem.

The resistor is right to the left of the blower motor and can be picked up from HERE.

Please double check your year and whether you have climate control or not.
