Add Power to 850 GLT?
So i have a '95 850 GLT, and I just want more out of this engine. I looked for chips but cant find any, i thought about swaping enigines, but that could be timely.... so could you add a turbo charger or soemthing to this nature? i just want more POWER from this car!
1. Your N/A, your not going to gain much power if any from any mods without a lot of money.
2. Sell your N/A and buy a turbo model. You'll be much happier, trust me.
3. If you have to keep this car and your hell bent on modding it...
- Inmotion I do believe makes N/A ECU upgrades. You wont see much increase from this and the power to price ratio isn't worth it.
- A custom intake and exhuast system is not going to net you much either.
- Stick to suspension and exterior mods, honestly.
4. You could add a turbo, but it isn't that easy...
*Turbo
*Intercooler
*Intercooler hard pipes
*Turbo hoses
*Vacuum lines
*Oil or water lines for turbo
*Boost gauge
*Downpipe and catback system
*ECU tuning (Custom dyno tuning to get best tune)
*Etc...
Your looking at $3k+ to do this right.
Just sell it and buy a turbo model.

Yeah, your pretty limited to upgrades with a non turbo engine. You could do intake and exhaust and see a slight gain, but it wouldn't be worth it for how much you would have to pay to do that, when you could use that money towards an 850 turbo.
Or find an 850 turbo that has been in a wreck at your local junk yard to soften that $3k figure... that is if you are hell bent on doing it your self. At my local pullaparts there are a couple, but I have neither the time or money to do this yet.
But the tuning is the most important part and like I said the only way to do it proper is with dyno tuning which isn't cheap. So it is still going to be a $3k+ job no matter what.
