I have a 94 turbo wagon and when I turn on the a/c nothing at all happens.Checked fuse its fine.A bad relay maybe?Can someone please give me a place to start!

 

Nothing happens? Does the fan in the cabin work or are we talking it does not get cold?

 

The blower fan works.The compressor never comes on.

 

Is it low on freon?

 

Start your car, turn on your A/C, make sure you have switched on the A/C switch on the dash. Turn it to cold with the fan on.

Open the hood with a Paper clip in hand. Disconnect the pressure switch in the below picture. Take the paperclip and jump the electrical connection (the electrical plug, not on the pipe and it wont shock you). Listen for the compressor clutch to turn on. If it does then you are just low on freon. If it does not there is something else wrong.

 

Thanks for your help.I bypassed the pressure switch and the compressor came on.I noticed a puddle under the front of the car.I found the bottom of the drier had rusted though.

 

yeah same here.. my a/c doesnt work.. the air blows but no cold air comes out.. do you think it just needs a re-charge? i had this done once before and it worked for a little while (1-2yrs it worked maybe) ; should i try again for about $200?

 

I would try a recharge and see what happens.

 

yeah thats what i was thinking.. i may try that paper clip thing to check also
