Am I asking too much?
So, sadly, I am trying to sell my 96' 850, because of mechanical problems. I have it in classifieds, craigslist, etc, for around $1000, but seemingly every offer I get is around $250 bucks, which is what a salvage yard would give me. Am I asking too much, and if so what do you think is more appropriate? I figure the people here would be the best to either encourage me to keep my price high, or put me in check lol. The stats for the car are below, unfortunately i dont have pictures. Any help would be appreciated.
96' 850
165000 miles on it
exterior: good condition
interior: tan leather in good condition, carpets ok
alloy wheels
mechanical problems: engine misfire, little/no compression, check engine light with Mass Airflow sensor code.
Thanks in advance for the help

Hey now,
Have you checked all of the codes
?
It's hard to sell a car that doesn't run right for$1K as most people buying a used car expect it to at least run properly and unless someone is looking for a car to run in a derby, spring/summer fairs have crash'm up's usually as a way to start them off, or for parts.
You may want to part out the car as the sum of the parts can sometimes get you more than the car is really worth and this might be an option.
If so post themas there are many people that can help you to diagnose them and give you a better idea as to what is causing them and maybe offer inexpensive solutions for what ails your car. it could be something simple, maybe not. But at least it's a start.
Are you giving up on the car [&o]or is it that the trouble is more than it's worth for you to try and fix the problems?
Post your codes and we can start from there.

I don't think you are asking too much, but you are not going to find many people willing to buy a car that needs that much work. If the right person comes along, you have it priced right. The best way to get the most money out of the car is to part it out, but that's a real hassle. People offering you $250 are probably buying a parts car and $1,000 is more than people want to pay for a parts car. Three years ago I got $800 from and independent Volvo mechanic for a 94 850 Turbo with a blown engine. The car was in very good condition though outside of the motor.
What have you done to try to fix it yourself? Honestly, do you think it is worth the money to fix up? If so, I would do so. If you do fix it up and then decide to sell it, you will most likely get a much better price.
