Annoying Problem
Hello,
It happened to me today the same way it did a week or so ago. After school, I get in my car and start it up fine. The temperature both times was well below freezing, but I drive it everyday in this temperature. When I go to take off, the car will not accelerate. No matter how much throttle I apply, it stays at a very slow, very weak constant speed of maybe 30mph on a flat. And when I am on any incline, it will go down to below 10 mph. When I apply pressure to the gas pedal, it does not increase the RPMs either. Its like somwthing is limiting it.
This may also be related to the fact that my temperature gauge stays down on the cold side and doesn't seem to warm up. Both times however, after letting the car warm up at a stop (or this time just turning it off for a while) it runs fine with the temp. gauge still low.
Any suggestions?
-Thanks

RE: Annoying Problem
It didn't really sound like it wanted to stall. It did this the whole ride, about 8 miles, and the revs would stay at about 1,500, and when I trying to accelerate, it would not accelerate, and/or downshift. I did switch from econ to sport at one point, and this did not make a difference. My father told a local mechanic about this, and he thinks it could be just water in the gas line.

RE: Annoying Problem
I had a problem similar to this, but it also lit up the check engine light. It turned out to be the temperature control sensor (located under the thermostat, in the same housing. It cost about $35 to replace. If the check engine light is on, and you have code 123 stored, that is most likely the culprit.
