brake hoses

RE: brake hoses
However, if it is rusted, you're on the Dark Side.
This is one job I gave up doing myself. The connection did not have external rusts but were hideously corroded on the inside. I used flare-nut wrenches (the best tool for disconnecting soft metal fittings & connections) and the connections stripped anyway. I then resorted to a 10WR vise grip and had exerted a giga ft-lbs of force to no avail.
Reaching the rears can be a nightmare. The right-rear has a connection right on top of the delta link control arm and it is hard enough just to reach, and there is a plastic bracket getting in your way. The left-rear can be just as bad, you cannot even see the connection without bending your back for 360 degrees[:@]. The hoses only had minor superficial cracks so I decided to let them go for awhile.
If you encounter the same situation, I believe someone within this forum may have a magical cure for it. The 850 members are extremely knowledgeable & posses excellent skills (many of them probablydo better jobs than generic town shops or franchise garages).
Best of luck to you & happy holidays.

RE: brake hoses
You mean the brake lines?
They are hell. I rounded the nut pretty bad and couldn't get it even with vice grips and a flare tool. In the end, I took it the mechanic and he had to torch that guy for quite a while before it finally came loose.
The problem is that the threads are bronze/copper (I forget which) and the caliper is cast iron so over time, the two metals fuse together...
