It will bolt up I think there is just a difference with the torque and gear ratio... But I could be wrong.

No-go.

2 issues: A)- 95 and earlier have a different speed sensor B)- Turbo transm has different final drive-ratio (taller) than NA. Your turbo TCM will throw DTC for drive-ratios and limp-home.

Not sure where you are: up here in the North-East used turbo transm are $ 250 at JYs, about the same price for NA. Just get the correct one.

But if you get the N/A tranny TCM and it is the same year for instance 96 to 96, it should work correct?' just for clarification...

I was told by Lucky @ IPD at one point that it should match up, But like I said I wasnt sure.

but it you want an 96' R trans with 74k there is one on volvo speed auctions....
I was looking to buy it but im putting it off for a little just to save some cash, He still has it. He is asking $250 + shipping.

thanks for the info my turbo trans has 300k plus on it and I think that it is time for a new one or would you all think that it would be ok to just do a fluid flush and trans filter kit on it.... I dont really know a lot about volvos but I am trying to learn.....

Absolutely. Flush is good, and very helpful in most cases. There is no serviceable transm filter. Check the stickies for procedure on the flush.

These are very durable transmissions. These Aisin transm are part of the AW transm line that are used in Toyota trucks, Tundra, 4Runner, Sequoias, Previa, Supra.

Even my RWD V90 has essentially the same transm, just turned longitudinally.

No transm will outlive abuse though.

Is hard shifting your only problem?
No slipping?
No Shutter?
No kicking out or loss of a gear?

If thats your only issue,
Id do a seafoam trans treatment then after about 25 miles normal stop and go driving do a 3 part flush (Drain and fill drive 25 miles and repeat drain and fill 3x total).

Like I said this is what I would do..

Too much delay on the upshift is another hydraulic pressure issue. Did you flush the transm yet?
