Default OBX Exhaust Question

I am installing My exhaust on Thursday, I got new hangers and better clamps but I was wondering about A gasket between the down pipe and the turbo?

I know a couple of you guys have exhausts on and some have just installed their exhaust.... So, Anyone have any insight on this?

there is no gasket between downpipe and turbo. It's a machined finish on both pieces that butt together. I put mine on last week and didnt put anything in between them and I have absolutely no leaks. You will be fine.

There are a bunch of vids on youtube that show the sound,
Here are some of the better sounding ones...
YouTube - ‪Volvo T5R Exhaust OBX‬‏
YouTube - ‪Volvo V70 LPT pull with OBX Exhaust‬‏

but I will post a video of the difference in the sound after I put mine on..

Matty: you arent running the stock turbo, are you? If you are, neither of the downpipes are gonna fit. Sorry for being the bearer of bad news on that, but it's better to know BEFORE you take stuff off.

96-97 Had Straight
98+ Had Angled..

Whats the truth to this?

that's correct. you can still use the obx exhaust, but you'll have to change the flange on the downpipe. Conical flange is 2.350 inches, straight flange 2.625 inches, and angle flange is 2.875 inches.

The number I have on the housing is 115 89 11810 7,
Which after a search I came up with

7cm2 Straight Exhaust housing..

Im getting really confused... I looked at some pics tech posted on another site YEARS ago and my numbers match up to the numbers on his straight housing..

I just want to make sure so I can drive it over to the exhaust shop or be able to install it myself..

Oh well I guess we will see what happens

before you get started measure out the space between the bolts on the turbo to the downpipe and compare them to the OBX downpipe. That's one sure way to know. If you cant do that, unbolt the downpipe and push it out of the way and see if the OBX pipe fits your turbo. I know it didnt fit my 15G though.

Good deal. I could have eliminated a lot of your worry if i had taken the time to read that your car is a 1996. Mine was different because it's a 1994...The 96 has the straight flange. Glad it's gonna work out - I think you'll like it.

OBX Turbo Back Exhaust 94-04 Volvo 850 C70 S70 V70 FWD | eBay

this kit from ebay says this:

Includes two downpipes, one for angled out turbine housings and one for straight out turbine housings

Volvo models with a conical turbo will need to reweld one of the downpipes with a conical flange

also it looks like they have a cat? or is that a resinator in that kit?

302: theres a race cat in it, not a resonator.

I bought mine here: OBX Turbo Back Exhaust 94-04 Volvo 850, C70, S70, V70 Turbo FWD - Sparktec Motorsports

With shipping it was $402.00

Dont forget to use the code retailmenot It will give you $10 off.

Also keep in mind Sparktec is a Very Small mom and pop shop, so their shipping is not as fast as FCP or IPD per say but they ship with in 2 business days.
If you need to contact them do it by email, not by phone there is not always someone available to answer the phone.
Danny will get back to you with in 24 hours,

Thats where I bought mine and it was only $396 shipped from cali to miami.
