1996 Volvo 850 automatic. The transmission does not have 1st or 2nd. Putting the tranny in 1st is no different than 3rd. If I start out in D it is very doggy and never shifts into another gear. Best is starting in 3rd and when I get up to 50mph shift to D works the best of now (which I know is not right.) I just acquired this car it runs great and seems to been well cared for with 140000 miles on it. Looks like it could use a fluid change its kinda dark but not real bad.

 

Also want to add that sport mode or winter does nothing.

 

The transmission computer will talk to you.

 

yelp. S222 is what the PO said that tranny shop gave.

 

I took to oriellys to get codes. shift malfunction and S2 soleniod codes. guess theses a natorious for this.
