Hey guys? I have a 850 turbo auto and just replaced the pnp. My car slips goin into 4th and downshifting to any gear while in ?D? but if I put it in ?3? it doesnt slip at all not even downshifting. Also I noticed if its in ?3? it will sometimes shift three times which means its goin into fourth even though shifter is in ?3? . Any ideas? Thanks

 

Are you having any problems with your reverse?
any shutter?

 

sometimes when goin from park to reverse it engages hard. Havent noticed shutter in reverse but definitely in drive it does.

Tranny Shutter can be caused by different things. but it does narrow it down.
Are you getting the dreaded Orange arrow?
When was the last lime you had it serviced... not just drained and filled but Flushed?

 

Yes, gettin the flashin arrow. Not sure on the trans flush. Havent had the car that long. I drained and filled it 3 times which didnt change anything. The fluid was dark, atleast its red now. lol Think I might try a flush. Sound good?

 

does the fluid smell burnt..?
If your light is flashing it makes me think that your pnp switch might be out of adjustment....maybe?

A buddy at volvo sent this to my email a couple months ago Try this..

"Reset the box by making sure you have selcted economy and not sport, that the box is in summer and not winter setting. Switch off the engine. then switch on the ignition without starting the engine. Move the gear selector to drive, back to park, then again, sometimes you need to do this three or four times. the flashing arrow will switch off. switch off the ignition. Now start the car as usual, your box should be back to normal and the flashing arrow should be off. If not, try again. It has worked on all of my personal cars, four so far, as well as 90% for the ones at the shop"
I dont know if this actually resets the box or not..

Like I said this was sent to me, dont know if it works but its worth a try. Im actually going to try it on one of my 850's that has a flashing arrow now.

I noticed today that the car wouldnt start in neutral, but if I move the shifter down just a bit so its inbetween "N" and "D" it starts. Also it feels like the shifter doesnt really lock into park all the way. U think the shift cable needs to be adjusted or PNP adjusted? Thanks

 

Well, I adjusted the PNP and now the car starts in neutral and the shifter feels how it should. But the car still slips goin into 4th and slips down shifting in "D" but if I put it in"3" it shifts and down shifts fine. Also if its in "3" I can hear it shift three times meaning its goin into fourth. Any ideas? Thanks
