Default BLINKER ON THE BLINK

My wife called in a panic today stating that the left turn signal on our 2000 S80 T6 would not go off! She tried switching to the right, using the emegency flashers. After being beeped at for several miles she pulled over and shut off the car for several minutes.

When she restarted the car the turn signal was off, unfortunately she had no turn signals at all! The steering wheel radio controls were also non functional! The emergency flashers do work however.

Any suggestions?

You need to replace the electronic block that connects the wiring to the blinkers. Can't recall what it is called exactly. I had them go out a couple months ago. I think it costs about $200 to replace.

Is it easy to replace or do I have to have a dealer do it?

You will have to go to the Dealer and have them replace the steering wheel control module. They will have to download software to make it work.

You also have no highbeams and only one speed on the windsheild wipers.

I forget the exact price for the part. It should be like 1.0 to replace the module. .50 for the software download and $30.00 for the software.

Thanks for the help!!

The dealer will do it for only $425 plus tax! What a savings!! And of course they have to order the part!

Is this a common problem or just a one time deal?

Tech,

You were right, it was the steering wheel control module. It only cost me $352 with tax!

Thanks again!!
