im working on a 94 850. the blower only comes on in the "4" postion and it sounds really loud, like maybe its running backwards. the car has sat for a year and the owner said the blower and resistor were supposedly replaced right after she bought it.

the green wire from the resistor to the fan relay shows ground but that doesnt seem right to me.

bad resistor?

 

Likely the resister. Take it out and look at it. See if it has cracks.

 

If it runs in position 4 can you fell a lot of air coming out the vents or not ??
