Default Brake fluid question

This might be a dumb question, but I have a bottle of synthetic brake fluid that says it is DOT 3 and DOT 4 could I use this in my wagon or should i just use DOT 4 fluid?

Hmmm. It should be ok, but all the full synthetic brake fluid I have seen is DOT 5!

Valvoline sells synthetic DOT 3 & 4 compatible fluid.

DOT-5 should not be used unless directed by the owner's manual. DOT-5 is a different fluid with special chemical composition and is usually used for racing purposes. This fluid would eat up some of rubber parts.

If it were my 850, I would only use DOT-4. My favourite is ATE (German).

Good to know about the synthetic DOT 3 and DOT 4. I agree DOT 5 is a totally different kind of fluid and not compatible with DOT 3 or DOT 4. That is why I mentioned it
