Default Broken cargo cover.

A day or so ago my cargo cover started acting funny when i realed it in so I took it out today to check it out and found the ends broke inside. Not sure how that happened. I thought it was bent but it's broken. Can those end caps be purchased separately?

IS there anything on these cars that won't break?

Heat and time seem to make the plastic brittle unfortunately.

everything breaks on ANY car in time...and if you have an 850 it's, at best, almost 16 years old. as boxpin said, plastic gets brittle over time, as do rubber hoses. i don't think it's any worse in Volvo than in any other brand.

Well, when you pull the end off it has what looks like plastic fingers that lock into the spool. The fingers are broken off both ends. My guess is that one end broke then all the pressure was on the other end so it fell apart.

With some instructions from Rob3 on Matt's site, I was able to come up with a fix. Here are my instructions:
Cargo Cover Reel Repair, Volvo 850 and V70
