Default Bulb Wattage

After doing an inquiry, I realized the illumination bulb in my rear defroster switch should be lighting up. When I activate it, the amber light comes on, but the illumination bulb is toast. I pulled the switch last night and took it apart. I removed the soldered in bulb for illumination. Does anyone know the wattage of the bulb? I plan to head to Radio Shack and buy another bulb and solder it in, but I don't want to get one that is too bright. I would guess it's between 1.5 and 3 watts. Any ideas? - AB

Hi AB,

I think the wattage for the bulb is less than 1W. I used a bulb I found at Radio Shack, the only one that could physically fit. It is 12V & 60mA, so the wattage is:

12 x .06 = 0.72W.

This bulb is brighter than the original, and other than the dealer I am not surewhere you can find the exact match (and the dealer probably wants $10 for one[8D]).

Someone noted that the bulb can be installed without soldering, though I could not quite understand the procedure. Either way would work, I believe (I soldered mine).

Good day,

JPN

Tks JPN. I'll go your route as well. A little brighter for $.25 is worth it to me - AB
