Default can I just change out the oil trap for the pcv system?

I need to know this asap as I need to get this job done this weekend so I can't wait for the order from FCP Groton unfortunately. I can get the oil trap from the dealership though for $50 . I also need to replace the front knock sensor so I need to get this done now. So will i need anything else besides the intake gasket and some hose clamps?

No, but it's kind of pointless to just do the trap since it's also the other hoses and lines that fail and become clogged, if you have it all apart, it makes sense to do everything. I guess in a crunch doing just the trap is OK, but if you have a clogged PCV system, your trap can still be completely fine, so you may not be fixing the problem. Yes, all you would need is the intake gasket and hose clamps.

It's the hoses that become clogged? Can't I just force come compressed air thru the hoses with some cleaner? I'd order the kit but I need it done this sat and I live in Vancouver, Canada. I seriously doubt it would make it here in 2 days.....

It's both the hoses and the trap.Chunks that get through the trap get stuck in the lines as well as a gradual buildup on the walls.

Trust me, just replace everything.

I've ordered the knock sensors and the oil trap from volvo. I'll let you all know if it works, **** I forgot in intake gasket! I'll just aftermarket hose if I have to.

You do realize that you'll have to remove everything all over again if the hoses are clogged? Also, you're going to need some good clamps to clamp that trap back in. The rebuild kits come with them, I don't know if the trap itself does. Also clean the EGR-like contraption on the cold air hose near the turbo.
