Clunk - then P0500 code
Hey Guys. Today while I was crusin, I heard a lound clunk on the drivers side in the front and a couple of min later my engine light came on and the shift arrow started blinking. I read the code right away and come up with P0500. I cleared the code and drove for about 20 min and it came back. Now Im not sure, but I night have hit a small chuck of ice in the road and shot it up under the car. Also, I had a problem with my ABS mod, but I unplugged all the fuses months ago as Im not a real fan of the older ABS system. There seems to be no problem with changing gears that I can notice. If it is just the sensor, where can I find it so I can get it on the hoist this weekend and check for broken or frayed wires.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

OK, so since I dont have any physical signs of a problem (changing gears) How do you suspect I should proceed. Sensors usually just die and the code would be there right away after I clear it. The code only comes back if I drive 90km or more. Or will I just have to replace the sensor to determine that its the dash.

Hey my car just started the same deal! I have a 96 850 turbo. I never had any prob with the trans till last week. I was driving in the snow and it was kinda wet (which makes me think I shorted something but I don't know what) and all off a sudden it starts slipping drastically in 3rd or 4th (its an auto) and the transmission light started flashing. I got to where I was going and parked it. Start it up later and no problems, no lights. Now it holds gears too long if you get into it. When cold, it takes a lot of effort to get it to shift into 3rd.
