Default Cold air intake kit? 2 1/2" exhaust on a Turbo?

With regards to an 850 Turbo, is the price difference between a cold air kit (like Eurosport) and a drop in K&N air filter worth the money as far as power output and improved response? I mean the cold air kit will give what? 5hp tops?

Also, is upgrading to a 2 1/2" exhaust going to result in more noise than power? I don't mind a nice sounding exhaust, but is it loud? What's the gain in hp? 10hp?

Thanks. I'm just starting to mod my car and don't want to do it wrong.

Search both your questions on here and on Volvospeed, there is a ton of information on both these topics.

Going to a 2 1/2 or 3" exhaust will help with power. I noticed a big difference with a 3" OBX exhaust! Faster spool and yes more power. All add on "upgrades will add horsepower as long as everything is setup to get the most of each part!" AKA tuned! Now you don't have to buy an ECU reflash to "tune" adjust wastegate, fuel rail pressures, plug gap. Every little thing combined will yield big differences!

Here are some links of my car with 3". Some in car videos going down the dragstrip, and pass by, also outside of car stationary!

That is the 3" with no cat converter!

Links above didnt show anything.

Three things to get your car moving. In order....

Exhaust
ECU
Bigger turbo

The other stuff will get you smaller gains but they are gains

He was wondering/ worried about "loud" exhaust on the turbo engine. Those were to show the exhaust in use so there can be a determination of if exhaust would be an upgrade he wants!

With exhaust you can tell a difference between a chambered muffler opposed to a pass through with performance. With that said, turbos need to breath and get the exhaust out as fast as possible, that means straight through designs work best. Loud, yes. They can be tamed too with the proper muffler system. I have not found it yet but may be close. I have been testing the Dynomax VT muffler, its a straight through design with a pressure sensitive flap inside. Its loud when your on it and quiet when not...best of all, no drone. I am not happy with the idle though, sounds like an exhaust leak all the time with the flap. Someone mentioned moving the muffler to the suitcase location so I am going to give that a try. I am rambling, sorry.

Here are some muffler options I have tried:

As for the intake it isn't worth it. Plus EST's isn't a "TRUE COLD AIR INTAKE" It like IPD's is a SRI (Short Ram Intake). Which still has access to hot engine bay temps. Thusly able to suck in HOT AIR. You will gain a few HP from this mod but for the most part you wil ljust gain a Darth Vader sound.

As for the exhaust system. If you do it right and by right I mean 2.5" mandrel bent piping with a free flowing straight through design muffler such as Maganflow and or BORLA you will gain power and a nice tone. Another thing to consider is a 3" mandrel bent downpipe. This is where your going to see the most gains with an exhaust modification. You can go from a 3" mandrel bent downpipe to a 2.5" mandrel bent catback system and yes you will still gain power. A full 3" turboback system is only warranted if your going to be doing heavy modifications to the car. However it wouldn't hurt to do it anyways even if your not making a drag strip car or a fun fast car.
