Coolant Temp Sensor Part No?

Coolant Temp Sensor Part No?
I'm just double checking.... The FCP Groton no. is 9186486...correct?
I cross referenced it at Napa and got this part: http://www.napaautoparts.com/MasterP...erature+Sensor
Will that work? I haven't had time to have the codes scanned, but if the Coolant Temp Sensor is the culprit, I'd like to know if I can get one in town, without having to wait for the order from FCP.
thanks!

RE: Coolant Temp Sensor Part No?
Hi Tjay,
I checked FCP Groton and it seems the right part. Some cars have 2 ECT sensors; one for temp gauge and the other for the ECU input. The 850 seems to have only one ECT sensor, though.
Before replacing, I would test the current one to make sure that it's shot to avoid unnecessary replacement. And if you determine that the sensor is shot, I would make sure that the sensor NAPA sells is of the same brand as FCP Groton; KAE. Lately, many parts sold at auto parts store are made in xxxxx or xxxxxx etc and I am skeptical about their quality.
Additionally, if everything, including the ECU, is functioning there should be code for faulty ECT signal; 1-2-3 or P116/P117/P118 (turbo).
Also, I would wait until Tech replies to see how he thinks.

RE: Coolant Temp Sensor Part No?
Thanks for the posts guys. I will definitely pull the codes and test the sensor if the codes lead me in that direction. I just like to plan things out ahead of time. I wanted to make sure I had correct part numbers so I could plan my wrenching time according to if I could pick one up local, or if I had to order it.
I've got a freelance design project going right now that's basically working full time after working full time, so I really have to manage my time and schedule things... even if it's wrenching on the car. [8D]
