Cruise Control Vacuum hose broken!

Cruise Control Vacuum hose broken!
Hi,
I have a 1996 Volvo 850 GLT. My Cruise control has not been working. Last night I was replacing my battery and so I went ahead and checked the vacuum hose. I saw a hole in the vacuum hose. When i tried to pick it up and look at it, it snapped and broke. Is there a way to connect the two pieces together or will I need a new vacuum hose. If I need a new one, how do I remove the old hose and replace it with the new one. I tried to trace the hose back to the firewall but cannot go any further. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
GLTOwner

In my book Duct tape is used for temporary fixes. Fixing something the right way does not involve using duct tape. Just my opinion again of course.

RE: Cruise Control Vacuum hose broken!
Hi All,
I took the battery and the battery holder off this fine weekend, cut off the damaged portion of the hose, cleaned it, then joined the two pieces using electrical tape first (a nice thick application), then finished it with some duct tape. Then I took it for a test drive and guess what????? the cruise control worked like a charm!!!! I felt like amillion bucks!!!! . Thanks a lot for all the good advice. I'd like to thank each one of you for your great expert advice. You guys rule!! I'm proud to be a part of this forum!!
Thanks,

Duct Tape rules!!!
However, here's my deep philosophical & ethical question. Is "Duct Tape" the original, or was it "Duck Tape" that first came into the market?
NASA.....[8D].
