Default Cruise wont work?

I have fixed all the other problems on my daughters 1997 850 T5, the odometer fix with the new gear was awesome. All the "lights" on the dash are now off, except for the "light" for a burned out/not working third brake light. I replaced the buld but it still doesnt work, I was told that, that is the second switch on the brake pedal and also connected to the cruise conrol, and if it is out of adjustment or unhooked the cruise wont work. is this true? any other things I should look at to see whats wrong? Thanks for your help!

The third brake light is powered off the same brake light switch as the rest of the brake lights. The second switch is just for the cruise. I would guess you have two seperate issues.

For the brake light, trace the wiring from the back window and check for breakages etc, maybe test the socket with a multi meter while someone presses the brake pedal.

For the cruise, check the second brake pedal switch, vacuum hoses and vacuum pump (under battery tray)

Yeah. I no of no warning light that is 3rd brake light specific. I think your confusion is coming in to play, as when people get a burned lamp indicator, and check all of there lights, they often overlook one of the bulbs in the 3rd brake light as being the culprit. Go back and recheck all of your bulbs and fuses. Make sure to check the bulbs in every direction. (i.e. lights, brake lights, turn signals, hazards etc..) Something similar happened to me before where I got a lamp out warning. And it ended up being a blown fuse for my LF marker light. (the L&R sides are fused independently) it was very odd, as my turn signals would work, but the marker was out. Or some **** like. Anyway, if you still can't find a problem (my guess is you will) Than try slamming the trunk shut. These rear taillights are wired like a Bangladesh whorehouse.
