Hi, is the 850 alarm system supposed to make a beep or a chirp when arming? Mine doesn't and I was just wondering if it was supposed to.

 

The Guard II can be programmed to do it. It honks once I think You need the special tester for the relay in order to programm it. The other alarms (Guard I and "Standard") only make noises when someone breaks into the car

I don't think any of the 850's do. Our S70 does make the lights flash but no noise either.

I really do NOT like the noise. So annoying especially late night in apartments.

 

Ok, thanks. I have the basic alarm. A little chirp would be nice, but I'll live.

 

I find the "thump" of the door lock solenoids is plenty to let me know my car is locked. I'm with rspi, I don't care for a horn honking.

But if I lock it more than twice it makes a strange quiet beeping sound.

 

This must be from the deadlock function (if fitted).

I added to my 850 the V70 MY99 coming home light relay (the grey one with "Made in Hungary" decal on it) and then trigger the Coming Home function over the lock and unlock signal from the central locking motors.
This way whey I lock the cars the low beam stays on for 30 seconds. Also when I open the car the light goes on. It's nice in the dark and also you can see if you locked the car or not
