Default Emergency Brake

Hey guys, pretty new here, owned volvos for a long time now and am in the process of getting through safety inspection. Would really appreciate any help on where the E-brake cable removes from the rear brake assembly. I tried to take one off of a volvo in the junkyard and could not figure it out sadly...... So I have a brand new one on order. I took a picture and was wondering which part disconnected? The new part is on order and have minmal time to reinstall new shoes and cable. Really appreciate any help guys!

Not sure what exactly you're looking for, but detaching the cable from the parking brake pad assembly is pretty easy. Once you remove the plastic basket end from the metal housing of the brake, and assuming you have removed the rotor as well, you'll see where the cable is attached to a bracket. You bend out the cable so that it slides out of its fitting... it pops right out. I can't do justice to describing it but the Haynes manual does a fine job. You'll have more trouble with routing the cables into the car under the floor and up to the parking brake handle than you will with attaching it to the parking brake pads.

Which park of the E-Brake cable needed to be replaced...the long cable or the short cable.

After 256,000 miles mine just snapped. It wasthe long cable. It is a pretty simple task.
