Default engine doubt

Hello guys,

First, i wanna say that i'm from Brazil and my english it's not THAT GOOD, ok?

I just bought a Volvo 850 GLT 1995.

In his document, the motor spec say : GLT VCB 2.5 5L 20V - 243hp type b5254s.

I do not understand why this HP appears in the document as from what I researched, the GLT has not all this power, am I wrong?

remembering that my car is not turbo.

The only way that motor has that kind of HP is if it's turbo. It likely has about 165 HP.

That's what I read about , but the 850 turbo it's 2.3 right? In my document appears 2.5.

Huge mistery haha

I think that the only way to know is going to a Volvo dealership and ask for a whole report of the car.

Another question, did you guys think that is necessary to do an preventive maintance in the airbags even if the panel lights do not turn on?

Take a picture of your engine and post it.

Open your hood. If you DO NOT see the large tube that goes over the motor, pictured with red line in photo below, don't bother. You do NOT have a turbo. If you do have the large back tube pictured below, you DO have a turbo.

Sure, go get your airbags checked. Volvo recommends it every 10 years.

Default Cruise Control

Got it, my car isn't a 850 turbo. But the mistery about the 243HP in the document still continue. haha

About the diagram wiring, I've try to read and understand but it's a little bit difficult to understand for me, the cruise control of my volvo isn't working, and inside the hood has a lot of disconected wires, I've pretty sure that the wires of the cruise control it's one of them!

Did you guys has an picture or a tutorial about it?

Did you guys think that the Haynes manual worth it?

Sorry for the bunch of questions but here in brazil, there are a lot of mechanics who charge an extremely high cost to do simple thing, and a lot of them try to push us services that we don't need indeed, that's the motive, I want to know all that I can about my car, So I can look more closely at what the mechanics are doing.
