Default Engine Heaters for Volvo 850s

Has anyone used engine heaters? I have done some reading -- there are many types available in the market. Any particular type best suits Volvos?

We have a Volvo specific block heater that we sell. I know a few people personally that run them up in Canada and never had an issue with them. We do have them in stock but we don't have it on the website. If you would like to order one, just give us a call at 877-634-0063.

Do you use synthetic oil? That makes a huge difference on cold starts.

If it is like - 20F, then you should use a block heater to help with starting the car. If the temperature does not get that low, then you should be fine.

Thanks for the info. It is 0 deg F today. It does not get this cold often, and I have never experienced starting problems. My goal is to reduce the warm up time before I drive my car to work in morning. It might also save fuel? Reduce the enginer wear and tear due to a cold start?

I thought about using a timer to activate the heater about an hour before I start the engine. Will this help?
