Hi I have a problem and hope someone can help me. I have a 94 850T and was driving home from work when I came to a stop sign. When I tried to go my engine was sluggish and did not kick out of first gear, as well there was this yellow arrow flashing on and off on my display. So I thought it was a tyranny prob, got it home and sure enough no fluid in the tyranny, so I poured in 2L of fluid started the engine let it idle turned it off poured another 1L in and started it again. Then I moved my dad’s truck and by the time I was back the engine was shut off and would not start again! It would just turn not igniting like it was a fuel prob. So I took off the rail to see if fuel was still coming through and it was, so on the fuel rail went and it started back up but very rough and would not idle without dying, after about 4 starts like this I was keeping it at about 1.5 2 rpm and she just died and has not started since? There is this relay (looks like a relay right above the radiator fan and directly below the throdle air intake hose) that is making a terrible vibrating notice (the gray one with four male prongs in the center of the air pump and fan control relay directly below the throudle intake pipe!) could this be my prob????? Any help would be great!!! I have pic of this "relay" in the file provided! thx again!

 

It is possible that the relay is bad.
That relay does stop the engine if it goes bad.
Also make sure the wires are in the relay tight.

good to know about the relay! ps the codes are only for 93 and below volvos! and does anyone know what this relay is called or what it does?

 

The relay controls the Injectors and spark.

Those codes will work for pulling up to 1995.5

You can pull the codes on your car using that method.

 

Ok got a new relay installed it, car started fine but very rough again and within in five minutes it died and would not start agian. As well the new relay was started to make the same vibrating sound the old broken one did. Called volvo and they of course say it sounds like a major electrical problem, any thoughts , oo ps tried to pull the codes like u said but my led light only blinks once and thats it?

 

HMMMM Maybe there is something wrong and the engine is feeding way to much gas.


Remove the sparkplugs. Then disconnect the coil wire and cover it up good with something.

Then crank the engine over and see if Gas comes shooting out of the spark plug holes.
If it does it might be a bad injector.
