Standard coolant is ok. Told ya it was the expansion tank or the cap

Man, you were lucky. You could have fried the engine by driving with very low coolant level.

yes, l just had a gut instinct to pull over and turn off the engine, although the engine was so HUT!!

car runs so smooth now and my fuel consumption is down as well. and car accellerates pretty excellent.
ill have to keep my eyes on that leak of coolant from sumwhere it happens when the car gets warm, when the engine is cool it doent leak, so iam gussing its one of the hoses.
they are really old.

Did you change the thermostat too?

It's not a smart move to keep old coolant hoses.

i took the car to 2 mechanics yesterday, i found out that it was a damaged water pump, so he's gonna change the pump.
hopefully thatll be the end of it.
The problem occured due to the fact the new expansion tank put pressure on the old pump, that causes it sum-how to blow the gasket or somthing.

- from my understanding this car hasnt been serviced for ages, hince the problems...

- i am going to lodge a complant to FAIR TRADING australia and i might get my money re imburst from the dealer

Have the mechanic change the timing belt and tensioner when he changes the water pump. He should not charge you more than an extra hour of labour, and the parts are not expensive.

x~

If he is going to change the pump and you know it hasnt been serviced in ages, then go ahead and get the timing belt and tensioner replaced as well...
