Failing fuel pump relay or ignition switch
ok today i had some wierd issues with my car, it would not start and the fuel pump would only kick on periodically but wouldn't stay on, the pump is good. wierd thing is with the door shut and the key turned to II it was chimming like the door was open but wasn't. and after removing the cover to a spare relay i had it finally primed the pump and stayed running. how to test? anyway to fix a relay? am already broke again after having to fork out for the new pump a few days ago
.thanks
.thanks
Sorry can't help with the repair but I know it can be done. Each relay new goes for about $45 (the one above the cooling fan under the shroud and the one in the fuse box) as I found out when my 850 had the same issue.
Not sure, my volvo tech pulled it and soldered the points as a temporary fix. I then had it replaced to avoid the inevitable. It has a vacuum line connected to it for some reason too, possibly ventilation. My issues with no starts after running the car on a warm day have ceased and the hesitation on inclines has reduced as well after replacing it.
